Vision: The Samson Cree Nation Nipisihkopakh Medical Clinic (NMC) vision is to offer culturally safe comprehensive primary care closer to home by creating a person and family-centered primary care clinic which includes an interdisciplinary team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and other health care and administrative professionals – offering care to patients of all ages.
In support of the Indigenous Primary Health Care Advisory Panel’s final report “Honouring our Roots: Growing together towards a culturally safe, wholistic primary health care system for Indigenous peoples” the NMC primary care team will seek to actively address the recommendations as identified by the panel including Culturally safe and approach care; Access; Integration; Quality and Indigenous Peoples as partners.
Through collaborative practice the NMC primary care team will also serve with the following Dynamic Values: Culture-based; Strength-based; Community-based; and Quality-based.
The NMC supports NPs, and other health care and administrative professionals in delivering high quality, coordinated care with the aim of enhancing the patient care experience within a community care setting. As well, the NMC ensures enhanced capacity for their care team to work in a positive, hopeful environment which provides their patients and themselves with the opportunity to optimize health, quality of life, and well-being.
The NMC supports the following professional objectives: increase the proportion of patients with ready access primary care in a community setting; provide coordinated and increased access to appropriate primary care services; increase the emphasis on health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and care of the medically complex client who is considering or requiring enhanced support; improve coordination and integration with other health and community care services to enhance and better support the primary care patient throughout their care trajectory; and facilitate the greater use of interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
At present, there are 5 priority initiatives identified for the NMC: Prevention and screening; Chronic disease management; Obstetrics; Paediatrics and Indigenous healing practices. Associated program elements within these priority initiatives will align with Samson Health Commission’s overarching goals and objectives: Access; Culturally Safe and Appropriate Care; Integration; Quality; and Indigenous Peoples as Partners.

Position: The NMC seeks experienced, highly driven, organized, and enthusiastic Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) to be join our interdisciplinary team of physicians, NPs, and other health care, and administrative professionals. The NMC requires up to 2.0 FTE MOA full and/or part time positions (1.0 FTE = 35-40 hours per week). When operating at full capacity, the clinic is expected to be open Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have formal MOA training and with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience. Ideally you demonstrate the ability and willingness to work in an unstructured and dynamic environment that requires flexibility and balancing of competing priorities; ability to develop new skills and apply theory into practice; and an enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
The MOA will have strong knowledge of and ability to use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Netcare, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as experience in medical billing and transcription.
Additionally, exceptional organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet timelines with minimal supervision are essential. Self-direction, adaptability and flexibility are required while working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment.
