The Registered Nurse Lactation Counselor provides expert breastfeeding support and education to mothers and infants, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care.
- Offers in-person consultations, phone follow-ups, and outpatient services to address lactation challenges and promote breastfeeding success.
- Collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care, coordinate discharge support, and develop personalized care plans.
- Educates families on breastfeeding techniques, infant cues, and benefits, while providing emotional support and encouragement.
- Assists in staff training, promotes best practices, and contributes to program development and quality improvement.
- Maintains thorough documentation and follows hospital policies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements include RN license, IBCLC certification, BLS, with preferred experience in hospital and outpatient lactation care, strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
Work schedule is 7AM-7PM, full-time.
