Shift: 12-Hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Pay Rate: $85 - $90 per hour
Job Description:
A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse in Santa Cruz, CA. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN will play a key role in monitoring fetal development, assisting with deliveries, and supporting both patients and families through the childbirth experience.
Assignment Details:
- 13-week contract
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Pay rate: 85 to 90 per hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to laboring mothers, including monitoring vital signs and fetal heart tones
- Administer medications and IV fluids as ordered
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections
- Perform assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Collaborate with OB providers, anesthesiologists, and support staff to ensure safe delivery outcomes
- Educate patients and their families on labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare standards and regulations
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and follow facility protocols
Requirements:
- Active California RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience
- Current certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- COVID-19 vaccine certification required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Additional Information:
- Travel and housing arrangements may be required depending on candidate location
- Must be available to commit to full 13-week assignment
