The Assisted Conception Service (ACS) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic HCPC registered Band 7 Clinical Embryologist.
The service is licensed by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) and provides semen analysis, surgical sperm retrieval (SSR), sperm cryopreservation, ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo cryopreservation, donor insemination, oocyte donation, oocyte cryopreservation, and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). The ACS laboratory delivers approximately 1100 cycles of IVF/ICSI, 600 frozen thawed embryo transfers and 300 IUIs with both partner’s and donor sperm annually. The Unit was awarded National Service Division funding to provide a Scotland wide PGT service in April 2005 and delivers approximately 75 cycles annually.
The post holder will join a team of dedicated embryologists and will participate in all embryology and andrology procedures for the assessment and treatment of infertility. The post holder will also oversee the day to day management of recruitment, assessment and screening of donors and support surgical sperm retrieval.
The post holder will be expected to deliver clinical work at an exceptionally high standard, with meticulous attention to detail. The successful applicant will also assist the Lead Embryologist in the training and supervision of junior scientific staff.
A Life Sciences degree and related MSc or equivalent experience is essential. Post graduate qualification in embryology is also essential.
The post holder should be state registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
