The Maternal Fetal Medicine Nurse Practitioner will work closely with our MFM specialists to provide comprehensive care to patients with high-risk pregnancies. This role involves patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for mothers and babies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with high-risk pregnancies, including medical history reviews and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic tests, including ultrasounds, lab work, and fetal monitoring.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with MFM physicians.
- Provide patient education on prenatal care, high-risk pregnancy management, and postpartum care.
- Perform procedures within the scope of practice, such as fetal monitoring, as needed.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
- Participate in patient consultations, follow-ups, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Stay current with advancements in maternal fetal medicine and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., WHNP-BC, FNP-BC).
- BLS and NRP certifications required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal fetal medicine, obstetrics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with high-risk pregnancy care and fetal monitoring is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring
- Ultrasound interpretation skills are not required immediately but mastering them is crucial for your success in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM). Time and effort to learn this essential skill is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients and collaborate with the care team.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and medical documentation.
