Summary/Objective:
Courteously and efficiently operates the medical records department in ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient records are maintained in the highest regard.
Essential Functions:

Prepares folders and maintains records of new and returning patients.

Courteously and efficiently assist patients, co-workers and outside entities with their needs when receiving requests for medical records.

Organizes and files statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths, births, laboratory tests and results, and types of treatment given in appropriate patient chart.

Verifies data in medical chart for completeness, accuracy and appropriate filing.
-
Files records in designated areas according to applicable alphabetic and numeric filing system.
-
Locates, signs out, and delivers medical records in an appropriate manner, as required by physician schedules and other requests.
-
Operates computer to enter and retrieve data and type correspondence and reports.
-
Keeps record of requests including name of requestor, address, and phone number.

Ensures appropriately completed medical records release form is on file prior to releasing any information.

Accurately logs and tracks receipt of payments for copies of medical records.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.

Function as relief for other personnel in the office as appropriate and to facilitate co- workers’ absence in the office.

Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in utilization of supplies and equipment.

Maintain strictest confidentiality of all company records, including verbal and written records.

Other duties as assigned by Regional or Site Manager.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
Education:
-
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
-
Prefer individual with two to three years’ medical records experience.
-
Medical experience and terminology helpful but not required.
-
Must be computer literate.
