Regular Part-Time position for a physician as Maternal Pelvic Health clinic at BCW Ambulatory in the fall. The clinical requirement are FRCSC in OBGyn, an accredited Fellowship training in urogynaecology as well as specialized training in OASIS including endoanal ultrasound.
The Ob/Gyn, Maternal Pelvic Health Clinic reports to the Medical Director of the Maternal Pelvic Health Clinic and the Senior Medical Director of Gyne & Sexual Health, Specialized Programs and Medical Genetics. The Clinic operates within the BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre’s ambulatory services.
Working as a Physician trained in obstetrics and gynecology and specializing in women’s health, this role is ideal for an experienced clinician who is committed to providing quality, patient-centred care in accordance with established policies and best practices. You will have opportunities to participate in Quality Improvement and Assurance projects and have access to research resources through the Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI).
Key Accountabilities
- Treating patients with OASIS in the Maternal Pelvic Health clinic two days a month.
- Performing endoanal ultrasound in the context if this clinic.
- Collecting standardized information to allow assessment of clinic outcomes.
- Performing QI/QA data analysis and reporting outcomes to the Medical Lead.
Qualifications
This position requires a Medical Doctor degree with current licensure or eligibility for licensure with either the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, and certification with either the Canadian College of Family Physicians or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Eligibility for (or already holds) faculty appointment at the University of British Columbia is preferred. In addition, success in this role requires FRCSC in OBGyn, an accredited Fellowship training in urogynaecology as well as specialized training in OASIS including endoanal ultrasound.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to beginning and continuing their personal learning journey related to Indigenous-specific racism and dismantling systems of oppression, as well as addressing racism more broadly. Shows willingness to articulate and share their learning experiences to contribute to a culture of motivation and inspiration among peers.
As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Foundational knowledge of the social, economic, and political realities of settler-colonialism and its impacts on Indigenous peoples and equity-deserving groups within social and health contexts. Understands the impact of social determinants of health-on-health outcomes. Shows a commitment to learning about and upholding legislative obligations and provincial commitments outlined in foundational documents such as the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study, the BC Human Rights Code, Anti-Racism Data Act, and the Distinctions Based Approach.
