As an Ultrasonography Radiology Technologist at Summit Medical Plaza, you will perform high quality ultrasound exams within the Ob/Gyn Unit. In this role, you will accurately complete reports, communicate findings and assist with various procedures as needed. You also have the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills by teaching and training new Sonographers, students, fellows and residents. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform Ob/Gyn ultrasound exams in accordance with lab standards and guidelines.

Review patient history prior to exam.
-
Communicate exam process to patients.
-
Ensure patient comfort and safety.
-
Work closely with the physicians and communicate findings.
-
Monitor templates/schedule for ultrasound appointments.
-
Ensure emergent ultrasounds are done in a timely manner.
-
Complete and archive end of day transmission of images.
-
Assure proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify vendor or clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
-
Adequately clean equipment and stock linen and supplies.
-
Participate in lab meetings, quality assurance and educational processes.
-
Assist staff and fellows in research projects.
-
Assist in training new hires, students, fellows and residents.
-
Assist with orienting new employees to the equipment, department procedures and scanning guidelines.
-
Rotate to sites as needed within the Institute.
-
Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures and equipment.
-
In MFM, perform obstetric ultrasounds on high-risk patients, including nuchal translucencies, anatomies, BPPs, growth scans, cervical lengths, MCA dopplers, UA dopplers, CVS and other procedures.

In GYN/REI, perform gynecologic exams and assist with procedures on patients, including TA/TV pelvic ultrasounds, endometriosis studies, SIS and HyCOSy procedures, IVF monitorings, transfers and early OB scans.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in good standing

Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) Certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
-
Completion of five patient exams in each of the 9 OB/MFM and 9 GYN/REI Competencies within six months of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

One year of Ob/Gyn Women's Health Ultrasound experience or three years of ultrasound experience
