About The Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Regular full-time Laboratory Technician, Noninvasive Prenatal Testing to join our dynamic
Testing team.
The
Testing team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by performing routine testing, as well as other relevant lab duties. In this role, you will be responsible for accessioning, testing, interpreting and reporting all results, management of blood and blood component inventory and post-production component processing and preparation of reagents and equipment for daily use. You will perform these duties in accordance with all Canadian Blood Services Operating Procedures and manufacturer’s instructions..
Formula for success
- You will perform routine samples, receive and prepare donor samples for laboratory testing, follow approved work instructions.
- Assists testing staff, under guidance of the Laboratory Technologist, in testing related activities, including para-technical duties, instrument maintenance, cleaning of equipment and glassware according to operating procedures.
- Maintains adequate stock of supplies, assists testing staff with inventory counting and ordering of general laboratory supplies and disposables, and receives and inspects supply shipments according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintains and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers and promotes continuous learning.
- Participates in on-going quality improvement activities.
Desired education and skills
- Registered with Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO) or Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
- Experience - relevant computers skills required.
- Qualification and skills required- manual dexterity, ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, initiative and ability to work independently, ability to carry out repetitive tasks in a meticulous manner.
- Must show attention to detail and the ability to perform detailed documentation in an accurate and legible manner.
- Must have ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
- Must have the ability to operate automated equipment and computerised workstations.
