The opportunity:
The University Health Service is looking for a part time family physician to provide medical care to students and staff at the University of Manitoba.
This is a salaried position in accordance with the current Doctors Manitoba salary settlements. This position requires no hospital or intrapartum Obstetrical care, though a light telephone on call schedule is shared among the physicians. Potential for supervision of Physicians Assistants in person or remotely on the Fort Garry or Bannatyne campus.
The physician is responsible for the delivery of clinical services as per the Agreement between the Province of Manitoba and the University of Manitoba, University Health Service (UM/UHS) and Doctors Manitoba.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- MD is required.
- CCFP is preferred.
- Libre to the EMR experience preferred.
- Current medical knowledge and skills in primary care with highly developed special interests in sexuality, STI's, mental health, gynaecology/obstetrics, sports medicine/orthopaedics, infectious diseases and immunizations, general university student health issues, and international student health issues.
- Current knowledge and skills in how to assess the community health needs and practices.
- Current knowledge and skills in adult education and behavior and lifestyle modification for patient education.
- Working Knowledge of EMR, specifically Accuro is preferred.
- Working knowledge of health promotion techniques, including mass media, traditional education, and public awareness for the campus community.
- Experience with Endometrial biopsies, IUD insertions, Nexplanon insertions, experience with minor surgical procedures such as excisions, joint injections.
