Contract Counselling Position (RCC/RSW)

We are a flourishing private counselling practice serving online and in-person residents of BC, Canada. Though we offer counselling for general mental health concerns, we also hold a primary specialty in perinatal and maternal mental health, supporting clients encountering reproductive challenges, perinatal loss, trauma, postpartum mental health challenges, and parenting struggles.
We are looking for a committed, compassionate, and skilled contract therapist to join our team in providing virtual services and/or in-person services in their community.
As a contract therapist, you will:
- Provide counselling/therapy services to individuals and/or couples and families, virtually or in-person in your community;
- Offer complimentary 15-minute consultations to prospective clients;
- Maintain clinical records and complete proper record keeping in a timely and professional manner;
- Complete billing and invoicing;
- Participate in ongoing professional development and case consultation/supervision;
- Maintain good professional standing with your regulatory body / association;
- Maintain your own professional liability insurance and business license;
- Maintain a strong sense of ethics and compliance to professional codes of conduct.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree or higher from a recognized clinical counselling, counselling psychology, or social work program;
- One (1)+ years recent, post-graduate experience providing professional mental health/counselling services;
- Two (2) professional references attesting to the candidate’s skills, experiences, and personal qualities.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of counselling skills, strategies, and models;
- Demonstrated ability to plan therapy treatment and conduct assessments and interventions from a variety of theoretical counselling modalities;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with clients, colleagues, referral sources, and others as needed;
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively complete risk assessments and safety planning with clients;
- Strong computer and word processing skills, with proficiency working with programs such as Jane and Microsoft Office;
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Specialty training/experience in supporting clients struggling with perinatal/maternal/reproductive mental health (or a willingness to undergo advanced training);
- Training/experience in supporting issues pertaining to women’s & LGBTQ mental health (IPV and other forms of genderized violence; separation/divorce; eating disorders; burnout; sexual health; perimenopause & menopause; etc.)
- Specialized training/experience in a counselling modality, such as couples’ and/or family counselling; EMDR; child-parent psychotherapy; sensorimotor therapy; somatic experiencing; IFS; etc.
- The ability to provide in-person as well as remote counselling in BC.
