To apply, please provide: resume/CV with a publication list; cover letter; writing sample; (transcript optional).
Organizational Status
The work will support the advancement of the research agenda of the BC Reproductive Mental Health program at BC Women’s Hospital. The position will be a mix of in-person (based at BC Children and Women’s Hospital campus) and remote - we are looking for in-person availability at least on specific weekdays. Shared office space with other research team members is available at BC Women’s Hospital for the research coordinator when working on site.
Work Performed
- Reliably coordinates ongoing studies, ensures everything runs smoothly, meets set timelines and deadlines (even during times with little to no supervision); also coordinates the work of junior team members and students
- Overseeing the quality of the research projects; decision making related to project prioritization, and work distribution
- Drafting papers, project proposals, grants and other deliverables; incorporating edits from peer-reviewers and re-submitting manuscripts to journals
- Developing and implementing timelines, protocols, and work plans of clinical research projects; ensuring all team members and students meet set timelines
- Conducting statistical analyses (SPSS; R)
- Participating in forecasting and preparation of lab and clinical study budgets
- Preparing ethical review submissions in compliance with BC Children’s Hospital’s and the University’s policies
- Involved in knowledge translation and developing materials that are easy to understand for patients and perinatal families (e.g. books, online resources)
- Coordinates team members - research, clinical, admin, students
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors would have very serious consequences; accuracy and sensitivity is of utmost importance. Errors could result to loss of project support because of delay; loss of trust and confidence in the research team and endeavor amongst the patients, clinicians, decision makers and researchers on the expert advisory group, donors to the BC Women’s Health Foundation, and potentially the broader public in the event of a particularly egregious breach of ethics or privacy.
Supervision Received
The successful applicant will be responsible for creating their own work plan and executing it in an agreed upon timeline, in consultation with the Research Fellow and PI. The applicant must be reliable in coordinating studies and implementing timelines, including during times of little or no supervision. Effective time management, self-directed and proactive attitude are a must. While part of the schedule can be agreed upon with the Research Fellow, it is also required that the research coordinator is available at specific times and can attend required meetings, set clinical groups and data collection time points.
Supervision Given
Supervises junior researchers, junior staff, research assistants and volunteers or students.
