We are looking for a focused Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) laboratory technician/technologist to conduct validation studies and patient testing by NGS and other molecular techniques. You will be focused on handling sensitive equipment and following established molecular biology procedures and protocols, ensure accuracy of data, and complying with all regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate is well organized in order to ensure timely execution of the activities and detail oriented to achieve high level of accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Perform NGS and other routine molecular tests, procedures and analysis according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures.
- Works independently and manage multiple testing protocols routinely.
- Perform maintenance, calibration, function and operational checks on analytical equipment as necessary to guarantee proper performance.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations, and enterprise procedures and policies.
- Work effectively with a cross-functional team.
Other Functions:
- Identifies and reports any safety hazards or concerns.
- Makes suggestions for improvements of procedures and workflows.
- Maintains compliance with all enterprise policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology or similar discipline to meet CLIA certification standards for medical laboratory technician. (required)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 years of experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation and instrument runs
- Experience with DNA extraction, molecular biology techniques including but not limited to qPCR, PCR.
Certification:
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by one of the following accrediting agencies is required.
- Medical Technologist (MT) certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Medical Technologist (MT) certified by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Medical Laboratory Scientist certified by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Medical Technologist (MT) certified by the Department of Health, Education & Welfare/US Department of Health & Human Services (HEW/HHS)
- Technologist certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in one of the following areas:
Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Cytogenetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Cytology
- Technologist certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) in one of the following areas:
Medical Technologist, Andrology Laboratory Scientist, Embryology Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Diagnostics Technologist
Beginning in January 2004, newly certified individuals must participate in The American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) Board of Registry (BOR) Certification Maintenance Program (required)
