Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Ultrasound Technician (Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) to join our team. The Ultrasound Technician plays a critical role in our diagnostic imaging department, performing ultrasound procedures to produce high-quality images for medical interpretation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ultrasound technology, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing Ultrasound Examinations: Conduct ultrasound examinations to capture images of various anatomical structures and organs within the patient's body using ultrasound equipment.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients appropriately, and ensuring patient comfort throughout the examination.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to safety protocols. Troubleshoot equipment issues as needed and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
- Image Acquisition and Documentation: Obtain high-quality ultrasound images by adjusting equipment settings, selecting appropriate transducers, and applying sound technique principles. Document procedures accurately and maintain detailed patient records.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to review ultrasound findings, discuss patient cases, and ensure accurate interpretation of images.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities, including image review, equipment calibration, and adherence to regulatory standards and protocols.
- Patient Education: Educate patients about ultrasound procedures, answer any questions or concerns, and provide support and reassurance throughout the examination process.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification preferred.
- State licensure or certification as required by regulations.
- Previous experience as an Ultrasound Technician preferred.
- Proficiency in performing abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, vascular, and/or other ultrasound examinations.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound physics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
