The Location:
Oxford Fertility was established in 1992 and is one of the UK’s longest standing and largest IVF clinics. Due to the passion, expertise and reputation of our team, the clinic has grown into a leading fertility clinic and offers a full suite of treatment and diagnostic services, including PGT. Providing treatment to both NHS and private patients, Oxford Fertility performs approximately 1000 fresh cycles and 1000 frozen cycles per year. Conveniently located in a business park situated on the outskirts of Oxford, close to junction 8a of the M40, there is ample free parking for patients and staff around the building. Our state-of-the-art laboratory was purpose built in 2010 and is equipped with the latest equipment and monitoring systems that support us in achieving excellent outcome KPI’s. Oxford Fertility also has a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA.
The Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to lead our team of highly skilled scientists in delivering the highest standards of patient care in line with national regulation and TFP policy. As well as providing opportunities to contribute to clinical workload, the successful candidate will manage the laboratory service including resource planning, training junior embryologists, service development, research, quality management and project work. The Laboratory Manager will be part of the local management team and TFP Head of Laboratories team. The Laboratory Manager will also have opportunities to work on delivering group wide projects and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Full range of clinical procedures, including ICSI, vitrification and PGT
- Communicating with patients about treatment options and results
- Quality Management, including managing the laboratory audit schedule, document control, non-compliance and quality control/assurance.
- Management of imports/exports, donor recruitment and stored gametes/embryos
- Resource management, including staffing, consumables and equipment.
- Operational management including rota’s and workflow.
- Monitoring KPI’s and identifying areas for improvement.
- Training, induction and performance management of new and junior staff
- Regulatory Compliance
- Contributing to Group level projects and strategy
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a degree in Life Sciences, preferably a MSc or PhD
- HCPC Registered (or immediately eligible)
- Minimum of 6 years of clinical experience, some preferably at a senior/management level
- Advanced Leadership skills
- Advanced knowledge/experience in Quality Management
- Advanced knowledge of the UK Regulatory framework
- Fully trained in all clinical laboratory procedures, preferably including biopsy
- Must have excellent time management skills and be resilient.
- High level of attention to detailed and focused
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be highly motivated and have the ability to inspire and motivate others
Salary: Competitive (Depending on experience)
Location: TFP Oxford Fertility
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Weekend Working at approximately a 1:4 (renumerated with TOIL/overtime)
On-Call: Working approximately a 1:4 in coordination with your weekend (remunerated with a daily rate of pay in addition to your basic salary)
Pension: Dual contribution pension scheme
Holiday Entitlement: 27 Days + Bank holidays
