Sonographer - Barts Health Trust, Whipps Cross University Hospital

This post is based at our Whipps Cross University Hospital maternity unit. There are current plans for the redevelopment of the whole hospital within the next 5-6yrs.
We currently looking for someone to take up a full-time position. There is also the opportunity for you to undertake overtime should you wish to do so on weekends through the Trust’s Staff Bank Agency. Special rates have been negotiated for sonographers.
The department consists of 5 scan rooms which use modern GE ultrasound machines. The obstetric services include first, second and third trimester scans, fetal medicine, day assessment and routine screening. This all takes place all within the same unit ensuring dynamic cohesive partnership working alongside highly experienced colleagues. The position offers a rotation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Further rotation can be considered into Abdominal & Small Parts ultrasound scanning to retain and develop skills.
We would encourage newly qualified sonographers or experienced Sonographer looking to develop their skills.

he post-holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team in Imaging, liaising with those involved to ensure the appropriate imaging, reporting and management of the patient is provided when and where necessary. They will maintain a high professional and technical standard of ultrasound imaging. The Sonographer will undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to Ultrasound Guidelines such as those published by BMUS, RCOG, RCR and NICE. The post-holder will work as a practitioner in the delivery of all ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient within the department protocols. The post- holder will liaise with key Lead Nurses, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the directorate of Women and Children’s. In the absence of a Site Lead Sonographer, the post-holder will oversee the day-to-day workload to ensure staff and resources are allocated to the area and managed effectively. They will promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other health care professionals together with outside agencies regarding patient care and progress.
