Job Overview
Are you a Registered Midwife or have you recently retired and wish to return into a flexible position? If so we are looking to recruit registered Midwives to join our Staff Bank. - All posts are subject to NHS pre-employment checks including occupational health clearance and DBS (where appropriate).
- All pay progression is conditional upon a positive outcome at annual appraisal.
- All successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay. You will be required to sign a DBS payment form which will be issued to you as part of your recruitment process.
- All new employees will be required to attend the Trust induction programme and complete appropriate mandatory training requirements.
- Where professional registration is required for a post it is the responsibility of the employee to maintain their registration.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- Develop, in conjunction with the women, a programme of individualised, holistic and personalised care, taking cognisance of social, physical, psychological and cultural needs
- Works autonomously within NMC, Trust & Directorate Policies and Guidelines to provide specialist expertise to women in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, delivering high quality, evidence-based care and acting as an advocate for women and protector of the child within the hospital/community setting.
- To provide support and advice to all members of staff and colleagues within the multi-professional team.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Completion of Preceptorship Programme or equivalent experience
- Meets NMC requirements for practice supervisor/assessor
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of ongoing professional and personal development to diploma/degree level
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience as a Midwife leading to autonomous practice
- Competent to ensure the delivery of evidence-based practice
- Demonstrates a broad knowledge of current midwifery issues
- Ability to work within acute and primary healthcare settings
- Understanding of the legal framework around Safeguarding Children
- A working knowledge of clinical governance
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of public health issues
- An awareness of training requirements for Student Midwives
- Experience of managing a ward during a shift
