Launched in 2016, The Hub Project is a nonprofit effort made up of a growing team of communications, research, and organizing experts with extensive experience in campaign strategy, digital, polling, and analytics. We believe in a country where everyone has the opportunity to succeed in our economy and participate in our democracy. Position Summary
The Hub Project is hiring an experienced Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs to take a leading role in supporting the design, management, and promotion of campaigns leveraging the appropriate mix of strategy, communications, partnerships and grassroots organizing, and other other tactics to advance the policy goals of the Hub and its allies.
The Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs will have the exceptional opportunity to lead a talented team of experts, each proficient in their respective fields of external affairs, strategic communications, polling & analytics, and partnerships. From federal affairs to public opinion research - they'll be charged with managing budgets, vendors and designing comprehensive plans that tap into an array of resources for our campaigns. They'll also nurture alliances between partners and elected officials. This is a significant leadership role at The Hub Project and will be an integral part of the senior leadership team.
As Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs, you will:
- Design and manage budgets to accomplish the strategic goals of the department
- Lead strategic, campaign-focused teams of external and federal affairs, polling, and communications experts that support work across progressive issue campaigns focused on the economy, democracy, and reproductive rights
- Work closely with existing campaign partners, while developing new relationships to build robust, multi-faceted campaigns
- Oversee rapid-response efforts as necessary
- Help to build long-term infrastructure through partnership programs
- Manage an internal team of staff members and external consultants as needed
- Serve on the Executive Team which oversees general management of the Hub
- Identify and cultivate funding sources for individual campaigns and the Hub in general
About you:

- You have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- You have experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, specifically marginalized communities, in considering the impact and outcomes of decision-making
- You have 10+ extensive years of experience designing and managing large-scale programs, with particular interest in communications, coalition building, and public opinion research
- You are an excellent verbal and written communicator and have the ability to present to diverse audiences
- You have a talent for working with partner organizations and forming meaningful organizational collaboration
- You are an experienced people manager and a talented leader
- You are interested in helping to build long-term progressive infrastructure and measure impact of the work
- You are committed to developing strategic plans that work--and orienting numerous people and tactics around achieving goals
- You have a willingness to try new and innovative tactics alongside traditional approaches
- You have managed large and complicated budgets
- You have successfully negotiated with and managed numerous outside vendors
- You have experience using public opinion research to inform programs and drive narratives
Benefits
Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
