About The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the
Surgical Wards team as a
Nurse Unit Manager, where you will be responsible for:
- Using expert clinical knowledge to guide and lead clinical services and management activities, aiming to improve and optimize patient care.
- Ensure efficient and timely admissions and discharges of patients to assist with meeting National Elective Surgery Target (NEST)
- Use available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff.
- Ensure all patients have an estimated discharge date (EDD), identifying issues and putting strategies in place if EDD’s are not met.
- Ensuring services are culturally sensitive for patients and their families.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
- Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated competence in surgical nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
- Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.
