The post holder will be expected to deliver patient centred advice, support and care specifically for service users with pre-existing diabetes and to those who develop gestational diabetes (GDM) during pregnancy.
The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working alongside the diabetes team of obstetricians, diabetologists, Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSNs) and dietitians. Through effective working practices, the post holder will continue the philosophy of jointly working with other health care professionals to develop a holistic support network for pregnant women with diabetes.
In addition to the clinical role, the post holder will aim to raise the awareness and improve standards of screening for diabetes and inpatient diabetes care through planning and implementation of specialised programmes of education and training.
In this role you will provide highly specialised advice to support to women with pre-existing diabetes, those who develop diabetes during their pregnancy, their families and other health care professionals.
You will be expected to address the needs of patients from different ethnic minority groups, their families and carers with respect to advice, support and educational materials provided in a variety of formats to meet their needs.
