We have some exciting news at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
The Community Midwifery team based at South Lakes Birth Centre are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dynamic band 6 midwives.
You will be a passionate, professional and kind midwife embedded in woman centeredness'. Ideally you will be happy to work 30+ hours per week, be a car driver and have a flexible approach to work within the team to provide overnight availability in the form of on call, to help facilitate the home birth service and if acuity demands as part of the escalation policy to provide care on the South Lakes Birth Centre (normally once or twice per week).
You maybe an experienced Community midwife or a midwife looking for a new career direction.
Newly qualified midwives will also be supported to apply and will be subject to the completion of a 6 month probationary period.
To work as an autonomous practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team.
To work within the community midwifery team and maintain a good
relationship with other members of the team ensuring the women
receives optimal care.
To provide high quality women centred maternity care.
To provide effective leadership, optimise teaching opportunities
and give support to all grades of staff; planning and directing
activities to provide the optimal standard of care.
To give appropriate education to women and their families and
give necessary care, advice and supervision throughout the
pregnancy continuum.
To be happy to work alongside and facilitate the learning of both student midwives and medical students.
To ensure appropriate referral for mother or child, as required to
other agencies and Specialist midwifery team.
To give necessary care advice and supervision to women and their families, wherever possible/appropriate.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
