Summary
Involved in training, providing, and documenting direct patient care and services for patients and supervises clinical support care/services/personnel, while working collaboratively with others to achieve established objectives/goals. Effectively performs and manages a variety of job functions, exercising sound decision making principles according to the philosophy, mission, and policies/procedures/protocols of the Organization and rules, regulations, standards, and laws. As a recognized patient-centered medical home (PCMH), every employee is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of quality, comprehensive patient-centered care as a member of the patients care team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Clinical Leadership
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies/procedures/protocols, etc., for providing clinical support care and services that ensure clinical support care and service objectives/goals are achieved. This will include identifying and recommending clinical support staff/care/service areas for improvement, and developing, training, implementing, and evaluating a plan to address areas in consultation and collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services and other administrative personnel.
- Function as intake resource expert for clinical staff; organize and provide training to clinical staff during New Employee Orientation
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates competencies and services of the clinical staff.
- Collaborate with Director of Clinical Services, and Clinical Support Nurses to provide training, support, and annual staff education to clinical staff and providers
- Work with Director of Clinical Services to coordinate new and existing programs
- Coordinate training from Providers to Staff members on effective management and implementation of programs
- Serves as a liaison between clinical support staff, DOCS, and other administrative personnel.
- In conjunction with Quality Assurance and Risk Management, recommends as well as addresses related items as needed and/or requested.
- Assists with PCMH activities, teams, procedures, and training.
- Inventory control and management
- Order and maintain stock of all necessary supplies in all centers.
- Work Independently
- Work on template creation for program to communicate with EHR system
- Ensures implementation of goals, objectives and activities and abides by protocols, as outlined in the grant-related work plans and requirements.
- Increases staff expertise in working with targeted populations through in-service training and related activities.
- Participates in external meetings as required by funders and networks with other relevant community organizations and coalitions as directed by supervisor
- Manages, tracks and reports service delivery and outcomes to meet MedLink and any grant requirements, including budget management, narrative and statistical reporting Family Planning of Georgia (Title X).
- Informs patients and community members about public health insurance access for family planning services. This involves complete coordination with MedLink's Outreach and Enrollment staff and any related outside resources.
- Required to travel to any/all Centers to complete staff /provider training, act as resource and/or to fill in for a clinical support staff member if/when there is inadequate clinical support staff coverage at Centers (i.e. possibly with little or no advanced notice).
- Delivers hands-on patient care and assures the delivery of safe, comprehensive, high-quality, competent, and professional clinical care and services provided by clinical support staff and self.
- Conduct research related to family planning health information and best practices, and consolidate and apply information for program, patient and staff use
- Assists with the Vaccines for Children program and the Indigent Medication program, as requested.
- Provides evidence-based nursing care within the full scope of RN practice.
- Serves as a patient advocate.
- Seeks continuing education opportunities to maintain professional and technical knowledge and competency.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Characteristics

- Competent and knowledgeable of the practice of a Certified Medical Assistant
- Sound judgment and knowledge of, but not limited to: the clinical process and medical interventions/treatments, health history and physical assessment, pharmacology, and critical thinking skills, medical equipment/supplies, ambulatory care/medical office procedures including diagnostic and treatment procedures/tests along with applicable results and reports, appropriate referrals/support/follow-up, and care coordination, consultation, and collaboration

Education And Experience
Graduate of an accredited program Medical Assistant Program. Minimum of 5 years direct patient care experience preferred. Experience in ambulatory care, community health care network/clinic or Women's Health experience a plus.
