Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ultrasound Technologist (U/S Tech) to join our Radiology team. This position will involve performing high-quality diagnostic imaging in areas such as Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, Pediatric, and small parts imaging. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience and be ARDMS certified or registry eligible in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular. The role will require independent work, as there may be times when the traveler is the only tech scheduled on certain shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams in the areas of Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, Pediatric, and small parts imaging.
- Independently complete studies with proficiency in common imaging procedures such as appendix and hernia scans.
- Handle a typical workload of 8 studies per day.
- Work with ER, OB/GYN, and small parts imaging cases, including paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures.
- Utilize Epic EMR and McKesson PACS for documentation and image storage.
- Provide high-quality patient care in a hospital environment.
Certification & Experience Requirements:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ARDMS certification or registry eligible in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular (RVT). Must pass Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular exams to become a Sonographer Level II.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an ultrasound technologist.
- Competency in performing appendix and hernia scans independently.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision during certain shifts.
Department & Equipment:
- The Radiology Department has 3 ultrasound units within the hospital and 10 ultrasound machines in total.
- GE – E10 Ultrasound equipment.
- EMR: Epic
- PACS: McKesson
Work Schedule & Call Requirements:
- Shifts: 8-hour shifts, with the option for 10 or 12-hour shifts
- Weeknight call: 7 PM – 7 AM, 9-10 call shifts per month.
- Weekend call: 12-hour call, 3-4 call shifts per month.
- Holiday coverage: Will fill in as needed.
Additional Information:
- The department is staffed by 13 ultrasound technologists during the day shift, and typically only 1 tech is on staff for overnight and weekend shifts.
- Radiologists are in-house Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 11 PM, with 'Nighthawk' readings outside of these hours.
- No IV starts required for this position.
- Orientation: Includes 4-6 hours of online general orientation and Epic training, followed by approximately one week of in-department training.
