An exciting new initiative has been developed in Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to develop a Child Death Review process for all child deaths in Hertfordshire.
Currently there is an established JAR process for Unexpected and Expected Child Deaths and the objective is further develop our holistic reviews of all the deaths of 0 - 18 year old children and young people.
The Post Holder, in collaboration with the Safeguarding Children Nurse Manager for Child Deaths in Hertfordshire, will be responsible for advising on the implementation, coordination and management of the response to all child deaths of children who live in Hertfordshire; to have a coordinated approach for children who die in Hertfordshire who live in another County.
In addition, to be a a member of the JAR Nursing team to follow up, risk assess, action plan and support grieving parents and their families.
- The Post Holder, in collaboration with the Safeguarding Children Nurse Manager for child deaths in Hertfordshire, will be responsible for advising on the implementation, coordination and management of the response to all child deaths of children who live in Hertfordshire.
- To liaise with other counties when children die in Hertfordshire and live out of area.
- Work closely with the Designated Child Death Doctors to implement the JAR for all child deaths in Hertfordshire and to support and coordinate process (protocols, pathways and monitoring systems).
- Ensure that the deaths of all children normally resident in Hertfordshire who die in a community setting are reviewed and a Joint Agency Response (JAR) is triggered where appropriate and being part of the JAR nursing rota.
- To support the Electronic Child Death Overview Process (ECDOP).
- Arrange and attend internal and external child death meetings as requested, this includes strategy discussions, multi-agency meetings, Child Death Review Meetings (CDRM), Child Death Overview Panel meetings and any other appropriate meeting.
