About The Position
The Allied Health Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, coordination and management of Derbarl’s Paediatric Allied Health team. This role encompasses the leadership of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to paediatric patients. The Allied Health Coordinator will work closely with health care professionals, patients, families, and external organisations to ensure services are patient centred and aligned with Derbarl’s Clinical Governance Framework, Derbarl Paediatrics model of care and the Maternal & Child Health Strategy House goals. The Allied Health Coordinator is instrumental in supporting the implementation of quality systems and risk management strategies to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Derbarl’s allied health services. This role will lead a team of dedicated professionals in providing exceptional care to paediatric patients while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
This will be a Maximum-term contract of 1 year from the employment start date.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and develop the Paediatric Allied Health team, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Coordinate staff schedules, assignments, and workload to ensure efficient operation and high-quality patient care.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, identify training needs, and facilitate professional development opportunities.
- Operational Coordination:
- Oversee the scheduling, resource allocation, and day-to-day operations of the paediatric allied health services ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Ensure the effective coordination of patient care across multidisciplinary teams within the health service.
- Manage resources effectively, including equipment and supplies, to meet patient care needs and departmental budgets.
- Quality Improvement and Risk Management:
- Implement and monitor quality improvement processes and systems to enhance patient care and safety.
- Address and resolve potential issues related to patient care, staff performance and operational efficiency.
- Identify potential risks within the paediatric allied health division and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Ensure compliance with health care regulations, standards, and practices, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a primary point of contact for patients, families and external organisations, maintaining strong relationships and effective communication.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organisations, and educational institutions to maintain high standards of care and service delivery.
- Represent the paediatric allied health team in meetings, committees, and forums related to healthcare quality and safety.
- Compliance and Best Practice:
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant laws, standards, and ethical guidelines as per Derbarl Clinical Governance Framework, Derbarl Paediatrics model of care.
- Keep abreast of current best practices in paediatric allied health and integrate these practices into team operations.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Allied Health Discipline, Healthcare management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Allied Health, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within paediatric care.
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement and risk management within a healthcare setting.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in data analysis and budget management
- Commitment to delivering high quality compassionate, and client-centred healthcare services.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices in paediatric care.
- Knowledge of the Aboriginal community and local Aboriginal cultural issues; Previous experience working in Aboriginal Health.
- Good working knowledge and expertise in the use of Communicare or a similar patient information & recall system.

- Must have valid AHPRA Registration
- Must have valid Work with Children Check
- Recent Police Clearance certificate
- Valid WA Driver’s License
- Successful Pre-employment Health Assessment
