Position Summary
Provides full scope midwifery care to obstetrical patients in accordance with approved midwifery protocols.
Position Key Accountabilities
- Coordinates, directs, and implements prenatal and postpartum care.
- Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
- Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
- Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.
- Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.
- Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient’s treatment.
- Educates nursing students, medical students, residents and other healthcare professionals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills
Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
Current Texas Licensure as APRN – Nurse Midwife
Current Nurse Midwife certification
ACLS/NRP may be obtained post-hire
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience
None
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
