Position Description:

The OB Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of quality OB-GYN patient care. The OBC collaborates with other staff to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. The OBC utilizes knowledge of patient’s age, health literacy, and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care.

Essential Functions

1. Administer the OB Patient Agreement.

2. Interview new OB-GYN patients and complete their intake, including history, screening, etc.

3. Order appropriate labs and tests and prepare high-risk patients to be served by the Practice Medical Doctor(s).

4. Work with our Referral Coordinator to ensure on-going communications with specialists, hospitals, outside laboratories to ensure continuous quality care, including inductions of labor, needed procedures, labs, etc.

5. Provides diabetes teaching to include; self-monitored blood sugar testing of blood sugar, diabetic diet, and insulin administration. All teaching/instruction is in accordance with recommendations of the American Diabetes Association and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

6. Work with Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator to facilitate Medicaid eligibility process.

7. Schedule consults with the OB Hospitalists.

8. Maintain electronic records of all OB-GYN patients and the care provided to them.

9. Ensure hospital staff access to OB patient records.

10. Data collection and reporting as required.

11. Participate in OB-GYN patient chart reviews.

12. Participate in patient education to better prepare patients for labor and delivery.

13. Participate in Centering Pregnancy Program.

Other Functions

1. Serves as Medical Assistant to other providers in the Practice when directed to do so by the Practice Director.

2. Assists Practice Director with administrative duties.

3. Other roles as assigned by the Practice Director.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

1. Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate

2. Two to Five Years Experience in a Health Care Setting

3. Read, Write, and Speak Fluent English/Spanish

4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs and Electronic Medical Records
