Job Description

Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse, Obstetrics RN

Job Summary:

As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, Obstetrics RN, you will be responsible for providing care to women during childbirth and postpartum periods. You will work closely with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and comfortable delivery experience for both mother and baby.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs during labor

2. Assist with the delivery of babies and provide postpartum care

3. Educate new mothers on newborn care and breastfeeding techniques

4. Administer medications as needed

5. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans

6. Provide emotional support to patients and their families

7. Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately

8. Assist with emergency situations such as cesarean sections or postpartum hemorrhage

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Valid RN license

2. BSN or MSN degree

3. Certification in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) preferred

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

5. Ability to work well under pressure

6. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

8. Compassion and empathy for patients and their families
