We are recruiting for an Assistant Medical Secretary to join the Secretarial Team for 34 hours per week within the Gynaecology department based at York Teaching Hospital.
You will provide support to the Medical Secretaries and their Consultant Teams. Excellent administration/secretarial skills and audio-typing experience/qualifications are required, as well as a good understanding of customer relations.
You will be required to deal with queries from patients, Consultants and GPs.
You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, answering telephone enquiries and dealing with patient queries, as well as covering the Medical Secretaries during periods of absence.
The successful candidate will be required to have good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise the demands of a busy office and manage their time and workload effectively.
They will also be required to work unsupervised and communicate with Consultant Surgeons and wider team members on a regular basis.

You will also be required to work unsupervised and communicate with the Gynaecology Consultants on a regular basis. A good, accurate typing speed is essential, and a knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage. You will work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff with a patient centric approach. Previous/current NHS experience would be an advantage.
