About the position
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented OHIP Medical Billing Administrator to manage our medical billing processes and support our physicians with billing inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, a solid understanding of accounting and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and excellent communication abilities as you will be communicating directly with patients. You will be responsible for entering billing data, processing patient invoices, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate records. This role works collaboratively with the Sales and Finance teams and currently reports to the Billing Supervisor.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
General
- Collaborates effectively with team members across departments

- Maintains confidentiality and security of business and patient information
- Complies with policies and protocols, as amended from time to time
- Completes all required training to perform job duties effectively
Role-Specific
- Enter billing for physicians in EMR system and prepare for submission daily, ensuring
- that data is complete and accurate
- Check data provided by physicians, optimize billing opportunities, process patient
- invoices, and collect payments using billing and POS systems
- Communicate with physicians to ensure that patients are billed for all treatments
- Correct or adjust records as required to ensure that payments are accurate
- Identify and correct payment discrepancies and update physicians accordingly
- Prepare monthly accounts receivable reports for Team Lead
- Draft correspondence for past-due accounts and collections, and follow up
- Assist with month-end and year-end tasks, including supporting annual audit
- Respond to communications calls, messages, and emails in timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of all receivables, invoices, supporting documentation
- and statements in accordance with clinic policies
- Offer suggestions to increase patient experience and efficiencies
Qualifications and Requirements
- College diploma or certificate in office administration or bookkeeping
- Certificate in medical terminology preferred
- At least two (2) years of using of electronic medical records systems to bill patients
- for treatments, take payments, and follow up on past-due account
- Comfortable MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and virtual meeting technology
- Knowledge of OHIP Schedule of Benefits, RAMQ, and Reciprocal, and Third-Party
- Billing
- Familiarity with administrative practices and procedures, including billing
- Excellent math and time management skills
- Strong verbal communication, writing, and interpersonal skills (English)
- Pleasant telephone manner and strong sense of etiquette
- Track record of success in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
