Advanced Women's Care (AWC) / Valley Perinatal Services (VPS) is a premier Maternal-Fetal Medicine organization that caters to high-risk expectant mothers and their babies. Built on the vision of Dr. John Elliott through his unique proven methods to consistently obtain the highest gestational age for high-order multiple deliveries. Our highly specialized team of physicians have helped deliver over 2,800 babies, who arrived as singletons, twins, triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, and higher.
Our staff of highly skilled nurse practitioners and nurse midwives, specially trained ultrasound sonographers, experienced medical assistants, and friendly administrative support our physicians in providing the highest level of co-managed and personalized perinatal care possible.

Our Medical Assistants work in both the front and back office of the clinic. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-past environment while providing excellent care to our patients.
Job Summary
This position is in both the front and back office of the clinic in a Medical Assistant capacity. As the lead, this position is also responsible for training staff and assisting the Supervisor in driving process improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities
Lead Duties
- Serve as trainer to new staff and identifies training opportunities with established staff
- Subject matter experts on front and back office EMR functions.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Serve as resource to staff when supervisor is not available.
- Reviewing equipment logs for accuracy and completeness.
- Trains new staff on quality management protocols including spore testing, glucometer testing, UA testing, medication inventory/usage and refrigerator temperature logs
- Work along with the supervisor to ensure the clinic is up to state and VPS Compliance standards to pass a state survey.
- Monitor and coordinate care for assigned Care Navigation programs (i.e. Gestational Diabetic Patient Program, Total OB Care Program, Procedure and Surgery coordination, etc.)
- Organize coverage for clinics, serve as liaison for call outs from office staff to supervisors.
- Manage medical inventory and enforce inventory control (including coordination with other offices on shared inventory i.e., Botox).
- Report any clinic deficiencies or compliance opportunities to supervisor
- Optimize provider schedules in Athena to effectively manage schedule capacity.
- Report monthly supply orders to supervisor.
- Elevate employee and patient concerns to the appropriate chain of command.
- Monitor daily clinic flow with manager to maximize efficiency and patient centricity.
- Troubleshoot more complex scheduling issues.
- Auditing chart prep completeness monthly and report findings to supervisor.
Back Office Duties
- Conducting blood draws, non-stress tests, injections, completing vitals and intake.
- Assisting in sterile procedural set-ups such Amniocentesis, Cerclage Removal, Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS).
- Scheduling surgeries with local hospitals, verifying times with patients and providers.
- Completion of chart prep.
Front Office Duties
- Welcoming patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone in addition to answering and directing inquiries from patients and referring providers.
- Registering, scheduling, and confirming appointments.
- Verifying patient demographic information and update as needed
- Collecting co-pay and past due balances.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education /Experience
- Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Associates degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years MFM experience, or 5 years OB/GYN experience preferred
- Athena EMR experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, walk, stand and work on a computer for extended periods.
Pay Rate
- $28-$33 - Depending on Experience
