Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our women’s health team in Oswego, NY. The Labor & Delivery RN provides high-quality, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns during all stages of labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to provide both emotional and physical support to patients and families during childbirth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, and recovery.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using electronic fetal monitoring; accurately interpret and document findings.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and pain management per physician orders and hospital policy.
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, inductions, and obstetric emergencies.
- Educate and support patients and families regarding labor, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Follow all infection control and patient safety policies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York, in good standing.
- Current BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications.
- Minimum one year of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care hospital.
Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, or Meditech EHR systems.

- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy.
- Ability to stay calm and efficient in high-acuity or emergency situations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for long periods.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Requires full range of motion, manual dexterity, and visual/hearing acuity.
