Position Summary:
Oswego Health is seeking a Registered Nurse experienced in Women’s Services (OB) to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery, and GYN settings. The ideal candidate will be nursery and labor trained, with demonstrated competence in caring for women throughout childbirth and recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns in a Level I Maternity and Nursery Unit.
- Manage 5 labor rooms, nursery, and 8 postpartum beds.
- Administer medications and drips including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, routine IV fluids, and other OB-specific medications.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using GE and Philips fetal heart rate monitors.
- Document all patient care activities accurately in Meditech and GE EMR systems.
- Assist with GYN, female orthopedic, and female bariatric patients as census allows.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain adherence to infection control, safety, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active New York RN License (in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent OB experience including labor and postpartum care
- Nursery trained and labor room trained
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fetal Monitoring Certification (preferred but not required)
- Experience in Level I maternity and nursery settings
Equipment & Systems:
- EMR: Meditech and GE
- Fetal Monitoring Equipment: GE and Philips fetal heart rate monitors
